Sammy Donnelly has revealed he could not turn down the lure of management after being named as Horsham YMCA’s new boss.
The 63-year-old Sussex manager is relishing the challenge of replacing John Cumberbatch at Gorings Mead.
He has been assisting Darren Freeman and Ross Standen as part of the management team at Whitehawk this season after leaving Shoreham last September.
Donnelly said: “I have still been managing Sussex but I have missed management since I left Shoreham.
“Darren and Ross have made me ever so welcome at Whitehawk and I have enjoyed it there.
“But I have managed all my life and it is like being a fish out of water when I am not doing it. I just love managing and that is what drew me to Horsham YMCA."
