A SPECIAL music night hosted by Kevin Bishop has raised over £700 to support the homeless community in Brighton and Hove.

The “bank holiday extravaganza” at The Hope and Ruin in Queens Road, Brighton, saw the comedian and actor act as the event’s MC, with DJ Brighton Andy Mac, Man Like Malcolm and The Quarks performing to raise money for the charity Knight Support.

Secretary of the charity Andy Babbayan praised the event as a great success.

“The bands were all excellent and the near capacity crowd enjoyed every minute, with a great atmosphere full of positivity,” he said.

Andy explained that money raised from the event will be used for the provision of essential items for people in emergency accommodation and for items needed in order for us to run their Sunday weekly outreach service.

The charity, completely run by volunteers, will be restarting its outreach service for rough sleepers from this Sunday at the Hove Peace Statue at 6.15pm.

Andy hopes that the fundraising night can grow to become a more regular event, and expressed plans to host a similar event in the run-up to Christmas.
