A MAN who has gone missing from his home is due to become a father for the first time, The Argus has been told.

Matthew Bursey, 35, left his pregnant wife at home in Exning, West Suffolk, when he disappeared two weeks ago.

The father-to-be text work to say he was sick before travelling to the Sussex area.

The accountant stopped at a service station for a coffee before parking his car in the Birling Gap car park at Beachy Head.

His mother today made an emotional appeal for Matthew to return home.

Chris Bursey told The Argus: "I can't believe that he has done this. I am just stunned. Absolutely stunned.

"His wife is devastated and five months pregnant. Someone must have seen him somewhere.

"This isn't Matthew at all. He worked as an accountant and they said he was a model employee and had a model reputation there.

"Just please get in touch to let me know you are ok."

Matthew married wife Ellie two years ago and the couple is now expecting their first child.

However, Matthew vanished from his home on Thursday 1 October and has not been seen since.

He took his phone, which has now run out of battery, as well as his wallet containing bank cards which have not been used.

Matthew arrived at Birling Gap between 11am and noon and got a car park ticket for an hour.

In a Facebook appealing for information, his mother added that "there is no evidence that he jumped".

Matthew is described as slim build, brown hair and was wearing a navy waist-length jacket with navy chinos and brown trainers.

Anyone with any information on Matthew’s whereabouts should contact police on 101 quoting CAD reference Suffolk 470 of Thursday 1 October or Sussex CAD 1436.
