PEOPLE have been asked not to party on Bonfire night due to the risk of Covid.
Brighton and Hove City Council is telling people not to host private Bonfire Night events this year.
This comes as all public firework displays and Bonfire Night celebrations in Sussex are cancelled amid coronavirus restrictions.
Green tourism chief Councillor Steph Powell said: “It’s a real shame, but this Bonfire Night it’s vital that we put the battle against coronavirus first.

“I know so many of us will want to mark this occasion, but please do not invite friends or family over.
“Sadly, this horrible virus has killed tens of thousands of people, and we need to do everything we can to stop it spreading.
“Our actions now will make a difference and actions of each and every one of us will have an impact."
Lewes Bonfire has been cancelled this year
The lockdown restrictions are due to start first thing Thursday.
The new measures will see pubs and non-essential shop close, as well as specifically banning people from seeing each other in gardens - unless they are in your support bubble.
The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is also asking people not to take risks, as any accidents or problems could put additional pressures on the NHS and other emergency services.

Cllr Powell: “Please stick to the restrictions and practice social distancing throughout the lockdown period – for this Bonfire season and during Diwali later in the month.
“Thank you for being considerate and kind to others during the pandemic. This really makes a difference and will save lives.”
Support is available to people in Brighton and Hove who are struggling because of the coronavirus restrictions.
This can be with practical things like shopping or with mental health and wellbeing issues.
