A MYSTERY man was spotted boarding a chartered helicopter on a rugby pitch yesterday - here is who you think it was.

Paul McCartney? Cliff Richard? We asked readers who the person pictured boarding a VIP helicopter at Hove Recreation ground was.

Wearing a grey jacket with sunglasses and flanked by two other individuals, the man was seen waving before entering the aircraft.

Melissa Grayson commented on The Argus Facebook post and said the mystery individual may be "that rock star that lives on Hove seafront."

While another reader, James Bollinger Murphy joked that the figure looked like the Prime Ministers senior adviser Dominic Cummings.

Other suggestions included Jon Bon Jovi, Michael Douglas, Cliff Richard and Wetherspoons owner Tim Martin.

However, the sight of a private helicopter being parked on a public park led some readers to question how it was allowed to land there.

Simon Davey said on Facebook: "I thought it was a SAS deployment. Rock stars, even rich ones, can’t just park their helicopter in a public park."

While another anonymous reader said: "It's someone with too much money.

"This shouldn't be allowed in the middle of a lockdown."

A search of the helicopter’s registration number reveals the aircraft is owned by Castle Air, a VIP chartering company.

According to a flight radar tracker, it is understood to have flown to Chichester, from an unknown location, landing at 4:28 pm. The trip lasted 37 minutes.

The airline has three facilities, one based in the South West, one at Biggin Hill Airport in London and one at Gloucestershire Airport.

According to the company's website, previous VIP passengers include X-factor star, Simon Cowell.
