A MISERLY husband has been found guilty of stabbing and strangling his estranged wife to death.

Raymond Hoadley showed no emotion as he was told he faces life in prison for the murder of Jackie Hoadley in Eastbourne.

Police were called to the home in Broad Oak Close after her body was found on July 5 last year.

Hoadley, 62, scaled a wheelie bin at the back of the property and crept into the house while Jackie, 58, slept.

He stabbed and killed her while their adopted disabled daughter was in the bedroom next door.

His obsession with money was the likely motive for the killing, because he was terrified of losing access to joint accounts if Jackie met someone else after their split.

A social worker who supported him after his breakdown last April said: “Raymond Hoadley was driven by money. Either by saving it, not spending it, or stealing things so he did not have to pay for it.”

The super-fit former marathon runner also kindled a fetish for scissors, which he allegedly used during part of the attack.

He was shown on CCTV driving to Eastbourne seafront to dump the murder weapon or weapons, and a month later a pair of scissors washed up there.

Jurors at Hove Crown Court took just over an hour to find him guilty of murder.

A witness heard Hoadley, apparently talking on the phone saying: “I want to f***ing kill you, I want to strangle you.”

About a month later Jackie was found dead at her home and had suffered “catastrophic” injuries, including seven stab wounds to her face and neck.

Jackie’s blood was found soaked through her bed, pillows and duvet, and spattered throughout the bedroom.

Hoadley’s blood was also found at the horrific scene.

Caroline Carberry QC previously told them that scrooge Hoadley was money obsessed, and wanted to get his hands on their savings.

He drew up his own handwritten contract for Jackie to take the £300,000 home, while he would get the share of their £1 million savings and investments.

The pair had split up after Hoadley overdosed on his disabled son’s medication and was admitted to a mental health ward in April.

He now faces sentence for the murder on February 22.
