TODAY sees the further relaxation of lockdown restrictions across the UK.

The country is no longer under a strict "stay at home" order introduced in early January in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.

From today, two households or groups of up to six people can meet outside.

Outdoor sport facilities including tennis courts and golf course are now permitted to reopen.

Gatherings such as weddings will also be allowed to take place, as long a they are attended by no more than six people.

A new slogan, replacing "Stay at home, protect the NHS", is now in place.

From today, people are being told to remember "hands, face, space and fresh air" – emphasising the importance of ventilation in reducing the virus's spread.

Despite the increased relaxation of measures, non-essential shops, gyms and entertainment venues remain closed.

The Argus:

Pubs and restaurants will also not be opening, however takeaway food is permitted.

Holidays aboard are still banned.

The next stage on the government's "roadmap" for lifting lockdown is set to take place on April 12.

From that date, all shops will be allowed to open, including hairdressers and beauty salons.

Restaurants and pubs will be allowed to serve food and alcohol to customers sitting outside.

That date will also see the opening of gyms and spas – as well as theme parks, zoos, libraries and community centres.

Members of the same household will be permitted to take a holiday, providing it is in self-contained accommodation.

Weddings with groups of up to 15 will also be allowed to take place.
