Three very different dogs, all with one thing in common – they are all looking for their forever home.
Jack, Rupert and Martha are currently being cared for by Brighton-based RSPCA Sussex, Brighton & East Grinstead but would love to find someone special to share their lives with.
Due to the pandemic, if you are interested in adopting one of these tail-waggers, you will first need to complete an online form.
Adoptions are then carried out by appointment only as many of the animals can find it stressful to see strangers while in kennels or pens.

Jack
Breed: Dutch Shepherd
Age: 5-6 months
Jack's previous owner could no longer look after him, but he is a friendly, very lively pup who can be a little shy when he first meets new people.
He knows his name but has not had any further training, so will need to start from scratch. He likes some toys and enjoys his walks but does tend to bark at anything new.
Jack is friendly and playful with other dogs and can be quite full-on with them - he would benefit from continuing his socialisation skills.
He is looking for an experienced owner who has had similar breeds before and knows how much time needs to be spent on training and socialising.
He will need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation when he is fully grown and would benefit from agility/flyball or another outlet for his energy.
Jack can be very mouthy when he is over-excited, so cannot live with young children. He could live with children 12 years or older who are used to large dogs.
He will need his own garden and cannot be left too long on his own, initially.

Rupert
Breed: Bull breed cross
Age: Three
Rupert was a 'shut down' dog who feared human contact. It took a long time for him to accept any affection and weeks for him to venture into the outside world.
Through patience, dedication and a lot of love, Rupert has now blossomed. Due to his past experience, he is still extremely anxious and nervous of new situations and probably always will be.
He will need a home with someone who can commit the time and dedication to his continued rehabilitation.
Rupert now enjoys car rides, loves his walks in familiar places and really enjoys playing with toys. He loves other dogs and is happy to play with dogs of any size and sex.
He knows sit and his name on command and loves food and treats. Rupert needs a home without cats or small animals as he would chase them.
He will need a quiet, calm, adult-only home in a rural/semi-rural location and a large, secure, private garden. A home with a car for travelling to quieter places for walks would also be ideal.
His new owner will be someone with bull breed and nervous dog experience who is willing to commit to shelter visits over a period of weeks prior to adoption.
He cannot live with children or have any visiting children but would benefit from having another resident dog, specifically a larger, female, playful dog as he does play rough.

Martha
Breed: German wirehaired pointer cross
Age: Five
Martha was an unclaimed stray, but is a very sweet, friendly girl who can be worried at first, especially with men.
She has clearly been used for breeding and was not used to walking on a lead but is doing really well now. She enjoys fuss and attention and will happily sit with you for a cuddle.
Martha does not respond to any commands so will need some training, including housetraining.
Martha is sociable with other dogs and is starting to play now she’s becoming more confident. She has not been tested with cats yet.
Martha will be looking for a quiet home environment and needs a home without young children. She will need an experienced owner.
