ROCK band Royal Blood have cancelled a leg of their European tour due to Covid-19.

Following the release of their latest album Typhoons, the Brighton-formed duo were due to begin the tour in March.

However, the band, made up of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, announced that a number of shows were due to be cancelled or rearranged.

In a statement released on social media, the band said: “This is a message that we really hoped we would not have to write, but due to the uncertainty around Covid-19 restrictions in some countries, we are having to make some changes to our 2022 tour.

“Unfortunately, despite our best efforts to find new dates that work in the schedule, we are having to cancel our shows in Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg. Please contact your point of purchase for a refund.

“Due to these changes, our Swansea show will move to March 19, and our Paris show will move to March 21. The Milan show will move to June 23.

“You tickets will be valid for the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be available at point of purchased if you are unable to attend the new dates.

“The rest of the tour is unaffected.

“We are so sorry to miss out on playing these shows for you. We hope you understand the position we are in, and we will be back to play for you as soon as we are able to.”

While the band was formed in Brighton, Mike grew up in Worthing and Ben in Rustington.

The pair first met in 2005, briefly performing together in the same four-piece band, Flavour Country.

Royal Blood officially formed in 2011 after Mike met original drummer Matt Swan in Brighton.

They relocated to Australia and recorded an EP in Brisbane before Mike returned to the UK.

The band developed their sound in the studios of Brighton Electric, and it was during this time that they were signed by Warner/Chappell Music.
