A MAN who repeatedly accessed images of child abuse despite a previous conviction has been jailed.

Ludovit Gerhat, from Eastbourne, was given a suspended prison sentence last year for possessing indecent images of children.

As part of his sentence, he had to make all digital communications devices accessible to police via monitoring software.

Officers detected attempts to wipe material from his devices, and upon inspection, found the 34-year-old had accessed more than 200 videos and 100 other indecent images of children from the internet.

The material included some in the most serious categories.

At Lewes Crown Court, Gerhat, of Blackwater Road, Eastbourne, was sentenced to 15 months in prison for breaching his registered sex offender requirements.

The cleaner will also remain a registered sex offender for a further ten years and will continue to be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), severely restricting his access to digital communications devices and to children for the same further period.

Police Constable Louise Blacker, of the East Sussex team responsible for monitoring registered sex offenders in the community, said: "Gerhat clearly felt he could get away with this, but did not realise that we can effectively monitor him and help ensure communities are protected."
