AN EVICTED beach hut owner who was threatened with legal action by the council held a one-person protest at her former plot.
Michele Spicer, a former teacher, was the first person evicted from a beach hut in 25 years by Worthing Borough Council after she got into a parking row with people who live nearby.
Michele, from Worthing, had her licence terminated in June and was evicted in September.
She did not pay her annual licence fee for the beach hut, but said she “never got the opportunity to” after Worthing Borough Council sent it to her old address.
She vowed to build a new hut on plot 239 at Goring seafront but was warned by the council that doing so would be an act of trespass and would force it to take legal action against her.
As a result, the former model invited refuse workers and “her homeless people” to join her for a protest on Sunday.
She said: “There weren’t any people at the protest. I had to leave with my vulnerable brother because he was distressed seeing the former hut. I had to take care of him.
“So I wasn’t here for the people when the protest happened and that’s a direct result of the council’s actions.”
A council spokeswoman said: “A licence is required to site a beach hut on council-owned land.”
