POLICE conducted patrols on the beach following a spate of beach hut break-ins.

After reports of concern from the public, officers from Adur and Worthing Police neighbourhood policing team conducted patrols on Sunday and Monday.

Officers patrolled in Shoreham and the surrounding areas, and through to Widewater Lagoon in Lancing after reports of break-ins to beach huts.

“We are pleased to advise that there was nothing to report,” a police spokesman said.

“But we urge members of the public to report things to us via the usual routes of 999 in an emergency, or via 101 in a non-emergency.”

Last week, police conducted patrols in the grounds of St John's Parish Church in Copthorne after reports of antisocial behaviour.

A Mid Sussex Police spokesman said: “Officers have been on foot patrol today at Copthorne Parish Church in response to reports of antisocial behaviour.

“Please continue to approach officers to express any concerns, or contact us via our website.”

Mid Sussex Police also conducted high visibility patrols in and around East Court in East Grinstead the same day after a rise in antisocial behaviour.

Meanwhile, Adur and Worthing Police conducted a foot patrol in Buckingham Park, Shoreham, in an attempt to provide “re-assurance and crime prevention advice to members of the public”.

And police increased their presence in “hot spots” around Bognor after concerns of antisocial behaviour in recent days.
