Police have issued a statement after counter-terrorism officers were called to an incident following reports of gunshots.
Residents reported hearing three shots near the scene of the incident in Ditchling Road in Brighton yesterday evening.
One resident told The Argus that they saw a man on the roof of one of the properties along the road.
A huge emergency response, involving armed police and counter-terrorism officers, was spotted at the scene, with the road closed off for a time and members of the public told to stay away from the area.
A police helicopter is also believed to have assisted with the incident.
Buses were diverted away to avoid the bottom half of Ditchling Road while police dealt with the situation.
A police spokesman said that the “disturbance” was being treated as an “isolated incident”, with “no threat to the wider community”.
It is not clear if there were any injuries in the incident, which took place at around 6pm yesterday evening.
Sussex Police have been contacted for further comment.
