A woman who works “tirelessly” for her community has hosted a charity ball.
Claire Bennett, from Newhaven, who established Newhaven veterans’ football and Newhaven walking football, hosted a charity ball on Saturday to raise funds for people in Seaford with Down’s syndrome and special needs.
Her partner, Darren Childs, said she works “tirelessly” to volunteer every week and helps people “from all walks of life to enjoy a hobby weekly”.
The charity ball, hosted in Seaford on Saturday, was “a great success”.
Mr Child added: “It was a fantastic evening.”
The raffle at the ball raised £350.
The money raised will go to Seaford Down’s syndrome and special needs support group which provides family drop-in, swimming and sensory music sessions for people in the town.
Ms Bennett continues her work in the community and now has 60 women aged 30 to 60 playing football every single week.
According to Sussex County Football association, Ms Bennett will do “absolutely anything for her players, to make them feel comfortable and supported”.
