Police are looking into a report that people fled the scene after a crash on a residential street.
The crash happened yesterday in Martyrs Avenue, Crawley, just before 2.30pm.
One driver had to be taken to hospital following the crash.
Firefighters helped free someone out of a car.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “Officers received a report that occupants from one of the vehicles left the scene.
“A driver was taken to hospital with injuries which were not believed to be life threatening.
"Enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information should report online quoting serial 649 of 12//02.”
An eye witness said four fire engines, four police cars and three paramedic vehicles were in attendance.
A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: "One crew from Crawley attended along with the heavy rescue tender, which was also from Crawley, and a Surrey Fire and Rescue Service crew from Salfords.
"Our officers assisted in freeing one person from their vehicle."
