Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal car crash in Eastbourne.

The men, aged 38 and 40, remain in custody after police identified a second vehicle they believe to have been involved in the incident.

Three men from Berkshire were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Decoy Drive at 11.10pm on Monday.

The men were identified as Daniel Davies, 21, from Wokingham, Jonny Day, 32, from Bracknell and Jon “Tommy” Miller, 36, from Bracknell Forest.

Sussex Police Detective Superintendent Till Sanderson said: “This is a fast-moving, complex investigation into an incident in which three men sadly lost their lives.

“I would like to extend my condolences to their families and next of kin, who are being supported by specialist officers.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances around Monday’s events and there will continue to be an increased police presence in the area.”

The crash was originally reported to have involved a single vehicle but investigations identified a second vehicle, a grey Range Rover Sport, which has now been located and recovered.

The vehicle was said to have been “driving in a concerning manner” and may have been involved in a collision with the three men’s Citroen Berlingo shortly before the incident.

Sussex Police said this is believed to be an isolated incident and are appealing for further witnesses.

Anybody who witnessed the collision, saw any suspicious driving in the area around that time or has relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting Operation Brinmore.
