A man who drove his car with an entire wardrobe hanging out the back of his car has been given a warning by police.

The car was stopped by police in Hastings and after a few words the man and his passenger carried the wardrobe to its destination.

Officers from the neighbourhood policing team (NPT) pulled over the car after it drove past them last Tuesday.

Officers tweeted: "Hastings NPT Officers on patrol yesterday were quick to act when they spotted a vehicle they were concerned about.

"After giving advice to the driver regarding the insecure load, he and his friend decided to carry the item for the rest of its journey."

Hastings Police said that "further diligent investigations" led them to believe the car had been "incorrectly loaded".

Officers later posted online: "Yes, they really had been driving it like this."
