Fans of Miley Cyrus believe she could headline Brighton Pride - after it was revealed a countdown on the pop star's website ends at the same time the event's headliners are set to be announced.

The Flowers singer added a mysterious clock to her website which runs out at 5pm, the exact time that Brighton Pride confirmed that it would reveal the first acts for this year’s Preston Park festival.

Fans of Miley, known as Smilers, have speculated that she will be announcing a new tour - and that she could be coming to Brighton as part of it, performing at one of Europe's biggest LGBTQ+ events.

Pride organisers are not commenting on headliners, following speculation earlier this year that Rihanna could perform at the event - which now seems unlikely after it was revealed at Super Bowl that she is pregnant with her second child.

Writing on Twitter, fan Ricky J Crypto said: "Miley Cyrus has a countdown on her website that ends at the same time Brighton Pride are doing their first artist announcement.

"Please let this link up."

Miley Cyrus was among one of the top picks chosen by Argus readers for who they would like to see headline this year’s festival.

In a poll on our website, she finished third behind Lady Gaga and Rihanna, but ahead of Madonna in fourth place and Beyonce in fifth.

Earlier this month, Give Us The Goss, an online entertainment news page, said: "Confirmed. Rihanna will headline Brighton Pride on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

"Official announcement expected after her Super Bowl performance."

Rihanna took to the stage during half time to perform, but unfortunately there was no announcement addressing these rumours.

Instead, the Barbadian singer revealed her second pregnancy.

She kicked off the live performance, her first in seven years, suspended high above the stadium and dressed in all red.

With a knowing look to the camera she opened her jacket and stroked her pronounced stomach, with fans speculating the move to be a pregnancy announcement.

Last week, Brighton Pride revealed on Twitter that an announcement will be made at 5pm, with tickets still on sale.

Previous headliners of Pride festival, which attracts thousands of people every year, include Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue and Christina Aguilera.

Miley's countdown comes just two weeks before the release of Miley's latest album, Endless Summer Vacation.

Miley came out as pansexual to her mother at the age of 14 and has been a strong supporter of the LGBTQ+ community.

In her music video Mother's Daughter, she featured shots of a range of diverse women, including transgender women and a non-binary person wearing a shirt that said "they/them".
