A fast food chain’s new site has been vandalised days before it opens.

Pictures show a window smashed at the Nando’s in Worthing, which is due to open on March 27.

The South African chain will open in the former Laura Ashley unit in the town’s Montague Centre, which has remained empty since the clothing retailer’s departure in 2019.

In 2021, plans for the change of use of the shop unit from retail to restaurant were approved.

According to planning documents, Nando’s will operate the restaurant at ground and first-floor level.

The unit comprises a small area at the front of the restaurant, which Nando’s proposes to use as an external seating area.

The popular chain serves a range of burgers, wraps and much more.

A spokeswoman for Nando's in Worthing said: "Unfortunately, during the build of our new restaurant, it has fallen victim to some vandalism.

"This is now in the process of being repaired.

"We are looking forward to opening very soon and working with the local community on various initiatives we have planned."
