A schoolgirl has been left bruised and too terrified to leave her own home after she was beaten by other children.
Horrified mother Megan Jones, 31, said her daughter was followed home after lessons by pupils from her school and was subjected to a beating which was caught on video.
The attack left Lily Butler, 12, with “lumps and bumps” all over her head and Ms Jones has kept her away from school for almost two weeks since the incident in Littlehampton.
Ms Jones was shocked to find out a video had been posted to an Instagram "fight page", “where they send in videos of kids fighting”.
A crowd of ten to 15 people witnessed the attack on the Littlehampton Academy Year 7 pupil.
Ms Jones said: “She had a black eye, lumps on her head and sore ribs from where she was punched and kicked. Her hair was pulled out too.
“The next day, she definitely had concussion that had set in. She was sleeping all day and didn’t really have a clue what was going on.
“She hasn’t left the house since the attack. She went on a weekend trip to Devon with her dad. I have pulled her out of school because they have refused to kick the kids out of school.
“It feels like they don’t really care about the bullying in the school.
“They’re trying to put it all on the police to sort out, the kids who did it should be suspended.
“I’m shocked, youth crime in the area is a problem - people being abused while they ride around on scooters. It’s shocking that kids are even intimidating adults.
“My child won’t be going out again, she will be staying in.
“It’s all getting a bit out of hand with kids now.”
One person in the video can be heard saying "allow it, she’s Year 7". "Allow it" is slang for "stop it". Someone else says "let her up, she's Year 7".
The video, which is around a minute long, shows Lily being argued with by other girls and then attacked. The video below shows the last ten seconds where Lily is left on the floor.
Sussex Police are investigating the incident.
A spokeswoman said: “We are aware of this incident, which reportedly occurred in Mewsbrook Park, Littlehampton, around 4.30pm on March 13.

"The police also support the academy through providing sessions for students as part of the comprehensive school’s personal development programme.”
A spokeswoman for Arun District Council said: “We are aware of the incident but as this is an active police matter, we are unable to comment on this case. We work closely with the police to reduce antisocial behaviour and will continue to do so.”
