A gelato ice cream shop which has been in the city for nearly a decade has closed.

JoJo’s Gelato in Western Road, Brighton, has been left with letters piling up inside its door for weeks.

The business is owned by the Khan family who also own independent supermarket Taj the Grocer, which is just over the road from JoJo's.

The shop's net liabilities, its debts after its current assets have been used or sold, was minus £236,012 as of July 31 last year.

The restaurant has been in business since December 2014.

One person described the restaurant as a “lovely American-style ice cream parlour that was around for at least five years”.

She told The Argus: “Suddenly they seemed to have closed overnight with no notice.
