A couple have shared their anger after waiting an hour and a half for pizzas that never came.

Ash Taylor and Geeta Bahra, from Kemp Town, went to Pizza Express in Brighton Marina and saw other customers come and go as they waited in vain.

They arrived just after it opened at 11.45am on Sunday, June 11, to miss the lunchtime rush.

Ash, 30, and Geeta, 26, ordered drinks, doughballs and two pizzas shortly after arriving.

Their drinks and starters arrived promptly and they watched the restaurant begin to fill with families having lunch before making the most of the sunny weather.

"We went because we had a Christmas voucher to use up and when we arrived it was really quiet," Geeta told The Argus.

After waiting nearly an hour for their pizzas, the couple asked a waiter where they were.

They were reassured the pizzas were on their way but 30 minutes later and the pair were still empty handed and getting hungry.

"No one came over to explain what had happened and we had been waiting absolutely ages," said Geeta.

"We had to leave because we had plans. We asked for the bill for the doughballs and drinks and left."

Ash said: "This Pizza Express is a shambolic excuse for a restaurant and I'm looking forward to it being replaced by a business that is competent."

When contacted by The Argus, Pizza Express requested Ash and Geeta's contact details.

With consent from the couple, The Argus handed these over to the Pizza Express team.

A spokeswoman for Pizza Express said: “Our Brighton Marina team work hard to deliver great service no matter how busy our restaurant is. We have contacted Ash and Geeta and resolved this with them.”
