People have been urged to order their repeat prescriptions in advance of the two bank holiday weekends in May.

NHS Sussex is reminding residents across the county that GP surgeries are closed over these weekends and they should make sure they have their essential medicines beforehand to avoid running out.

Some pharmacies that will be open will have reduced opening hours across the bank holiday dates.

A spokesman for NHS Sussex said: "There are two bank holiday weekends in May, during which your GP surgery will be closed and community pharmacies will have reduced opening hours.

"Make sure you have enough of any essential medicines by ordering your repeat prescriptions in good time."

Over the bank holidays, hospitals, selected pharmacies, urgent treatment centres and A&E departments will remain open.

The first spring bank holiday is May 6 and the second on May 27.

The next one after that is August 26.
