A beer festival will be held on a steam railway later this year.

The Bluebell Railway will host the event from September 20 to September 22, offering a wide variety of craft beers, ciders and live entertainment.

The largest bar will be in the locomotive running shed at Sheffield Park Station, where the main stage will also be set up.

There will be ten special cask ales at the Horsted Keynes Station and ten at East Grinstead Station.

Regular shuttles will run between Sheffield Park Station and Horsted Keynes Station all day, as well as the full line service.

The event will prioritise breweries from around Sussex, with the aim to have each brewery supply one of its ales at the festival.

A beer token system will be in operation, with tokens available for sale from outlets across the railway.

Other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for non-beer drinkers.

People will be able to enjoy food from the railway's own catering outlets and mobile catering vans.

"Imagine sipping a special Sussex brew in the industrial splendour of a locomotive running shed, listening to great bands and watching steam trains puff up and down the line.

"Hop on that train and journey to other stations to tick another great beer or cider off your list."

The event is set to end at 11pm on the Friday and Saturday, and 5pm on the Sunday.

Tickets can be bought for either just the event or the festival and railway journeys.

An adult ticket costs £15 for the event only and £35 for the event and travel on the railway.

A commemorative glass can be bought separately and collected on the day.
