Aaron Connolly has been backed to take his bonus chance as the season resumes.

The Irish striker looked set to miss the rest of the campaign when he suffered a knee injury in the run-up to Arsenal’s planned trip to the Amex in mid-March.

He has used the subsequent break in fixtures to undergo surgery, recover, rehab and get up to speed in training.

He is now ready to go in take two of the Gunners’ visit.

Albion need more goals and Connolly would love to add to his double against Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “He has come back well and worked hard after the break.

“The physios have done a really good job on him.

“He is looking good, he is looking fit and strong and sharp and I think he can definitely help us over nine matches.

“He is a young player and a sprinter so you have to be careful with his recovery times.

“I think he will be ready to help us that is for sure.”

Potter will have no thoughts on the trip to Leicester on Tuesday or preconceived substitutions as he picks a 20-man squad for tomorrow’s fixture.

He said: “I wouldn’t say it is preconceived because in football you never know how the game is going to go.

“Of course, there are a few ideas you have.

“It is very much focus in the moment, focus on the game.

“When we are playing Arsenal, we won’t be thinking about Leicester.

“Then make the decisions accordingly.”
