Robert Sanchez is ready to show Spain boss Luis Enrique what he can do.

The Albion goalkeeper is hoping for a debut with the national team.

And he revealed he would keep his shirt, rather than exchange it with an opponent, if that were to happen.

Sanchez joins David De Gea and Unai Simon in the group for three World Cup qualifiers.

Asked by Radio Marca whether he hopes to play, he said: “I don’t know if I will, clearly.

“I will go there, I’ll train, show Luis Enrique what I can do in person.

“If he decides to play me, I’ll be proud. I will try to do the best possible.

“If not, I will keep working.”

Sanchez spoke to Luis Enrique by phone when he selected and said: "I believed him! I was a bit nervous but I believed him."

Sanchez has been surprised by the speed of his progress this season.

He said: “I always had in my head to go as far as possible.

“I didn’t think it would happen so soon.

“I hope to keep doing what I always do - keep my head down, keep smiling and train every day.

LUIS ENRIQUE CALLS UP SANCHEZ FOR SPAIN

“It has come quicker than I thought but I’m happy about it.”

Sanchez said he was at home trying to remain calm after training today as excitement mounted here and back home over his call-up.

He told Spanish listeners of the help he had received from Albion coach Ben Roberts.

Sanchez added: “He is like my second father here in England.”
