Jakub Moder might have made a dream full debut for Albion.
The Poland international was given his first Premier League start as the Seagulls hosted Newcastle.
He took a left-sided role similar to that in which Andi Zeqiri was employed in the second half at Southampton.
There was a tactical change, though, with strikers Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay playing very wide.
Moder had two good chances to score inside the first five minutes.
Welbeck’s pass from out on the left touchline to the underlapping Moder gave him chance to get in a shot which the diving Martin Dubravka saved.
By then, Moder had already lashed a left-footed effort over the bar on the half volley after just 90 seconds after Maupay crossed from the right.
Moder’s next appearance in this country could be at Wembley.
He is part of the Poland squad selected for three forthcoming World Cup qualifiers, the last of them against England.
