Danny Welbeck has revealed he is helping Florin Andone with the final stages of his recovery from injury.

The Romania striker is back in full training after a long road back from a serious knee problem.

Welbeck believes Andone could challenge for a place up front.

The former Manchester United striker has had his own problems with injury.

He said: “Obviously he has gone through a difficult period with the knee injury and that is something where I’ve come into the dressing room and I’ve spoken to him about it.

"We’ve had many conversations talking about knee injuries because I’ve been through the same sort of long period out with a knee.

“And then coming back you’ve got to make sure you’re ready.

“We have been speaking about it and we have a little bit of friendly banter, competition.

“We are professionals and that’s what we are here to do.

“We are here to compete with each other and push each other to the next level.

“He’s a good friend and we can chat about things and we are always pushing each other.”

Andone was injured on loan at Galatasaray but has been easing his way back into full sessions during the international break.

In an interview with the club website, Welbeck added: “He is looking good. You see him in the gym and he’s an animal.

“He has worked really hard. It’s credit to him to get back to this stage now.

"We are looking forward to him pushing on and gaining that match sharpness so hopefully he can be involved.”
