Graham Potter has revealed he played it safe with Yves Bissouma.

The Albion head coach is likely to give an update on the fitness of his star midfielder today.

Bissouma played on, with the blessing of club medical staff, after twice going down with a knee injury in the win over Leicester.

He eventually made way for the closing stages.

Albion boss Potter said: “He was desperate to play and he felt that he could.

“The medical department were okay with it.

“He wanted to try five or ten minutes (after half-time) and see how it was.

“He just extended his knee a little bit.

“As the game goes on and he’s getting more and more fatigue, then there might be a problem. That’s why I decided to bring him off then.”

Potter will speak to the media at lunchtime today as part of the run-up to tomorrow’s Carabao Cup tie versus Swansea.

That offers a chance to update on all squad members, not just those expected to face the Swans.
