ALBION loanee Jan Paul van Hecke is reportedly set to stay at Blackburn for the remainder of the season.

There were rumours that Albion manager Graham Potter could be tempted to recall the defender due to the pressure on the squad due to Covid-19 and injuries.

However, according to the Lancashire Telegraph, the defender is set to see out the rest of his loan deal at Ewood Park.

The 21-year-old has become a key player for Blackburn despite a tricky start to his time at the club.

At first van Hecke was recovering from injury and then missed three games after he received a straight red card in a 7-0 drumming by Fulham.

Since his return, he has played every game and has helped keep four clean sheets and even scored in his side's 2-0 win over AFC Bournemouth.

Blackburn are currently 3rd in the Championship and he will have a key role to play in their hunt for promotion to the Premier League.

If van Hecke can keep his current form up then he could push for a potential first-team place upon is return to Albion in the summer.
