LEO Ostigard is set to return to Albion with his loan move being cut short.

Stoke City manager Michael O'Neill has confirmed that the defender will return to Albion and that it is the player's preferred decision.

The 22-year-old joined the Potters on loan in the summer and started his time at the Bet365 Stadium.

Ostigard's early form was good enough to earn him a call up to the Norway international squad.

The defender made 13 appearances for the club before dropping out of favour as O'Neill has Ben Wilmot, Danny Bath, Morgan Fox and James Chester to choose from.

The Potters boss confirmed the decision, he said: "It is our understanding that Brighton will recall the loan.

"They are within their rights to do that and the player has indicated that's his preferred choice as well.

"That allows us with the cost of we have of bringing Leo here, a bit of leeway to look at the market and see what we can need.

"Not a huge amount but it frees up wages to be able to look at what our options may be."

It is believed that Ostigard could go straight back out on loan in January.

Albion forward Abdallah Sima is also on loan at Stoke, but is currently back on at his parent club for treatment on the persistent groin and pelvic injuries.
