ALBION attacker Kaoru Mitoma was on the scoresheet for Japan against Paraguay.

The Japanese winger netted his side's third goal during their 4-1 defeat of Paraguay in a international friendly on Thursday evening.

In the 60th minute of the match, Mitoma found himself in some space on the left side of the box and controlled the ball well before executing a dinked finish into the net.

Mitoma played 82 minutes of the match before he was substituted and replaced by Kyogo Furuhashi.

The other goal scorers were Takuma Asano, Daichi Kamada and Ao Tanaka, as Japan thrashed the South American side.

Mitoma's goal is his third for Japan in only his fourth appearance for his nation. It comes after his double against Australia saw Japan qualify for the Qatar World Cup later this year.

After the game, manager Hajime Moriyasu admitted that his side treated the match as if Paraguay were World Cup opponents.

He told media: ""Paraguay didn't qualify for the World Cup, but we treated this game just the same as if they had.

"It doesn't matter whether our opponents are going to the World Cup or not, we still have to put in the same hard work and effort."

Albion player Mitoma spent last season on loan at Belgian side Union SG but will be at the club this summer for preseason as he looks to impress manager Graham Potter and earn a spot in the Premier League
