Tymal Mills will be fit for England – after missing Sussex’s T20 run-in.

The fast bowler sat out home defeats to Essex and Hampshire as Sharks ended the season seventh in the Vitality Blast South Group.

He went through a fitness test ahead of the Hampshire game on Sunday.

Mills is part of an England squad who face India in a three-match T20 series, starting at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday.

Sussex coach James Kirtley said: “He has got a cut across his big toe which has had to be glued. It is healing well.

“He had a bowl (on Sunday) but it wasn’t quite right to go full out.

“He is with England this week and he will be good to go there.

“The Sussex faithful always want to see our best players playing for Sussex but we also have to manage other expectations as well.”

Kirtley said the injury was down to wear and tear.

He added: “Bowlers’ feet aren’t pretty and Tymal has probably got the least pretty!

“You build up callouses and hard skin and, when the hard skin splits, it splits with grave effect.”

Mills played in nine Blast matches and was Sussex’s leading wicket-taker with 15 at 21.26 apiece.
