Alexis Mac Allister wants to repay Albion’s support by helping them into European football.
The Argentina midfielder is back with the club who helped propel him on to the World Cup stage and is in no rush to leave.
He spoke to Roberto De Zerbi yesterday after returning from Buenos Aires.
The head coach has advised him NOT to accept offers which may come to move on this month.
Mac Allister attracted global attention as one of the star players as Argentina triumphed in Qatar.
But he said: “I’m focused on Brighton. They know how grateful I am to this club and I don’t have any rush to leave.
“I’m really happy here. I enjoy every day.
“I’m just focused on Brighton and I will do my best.
“It will be an important achievement if we can get into Europe.
“We know that it’s hard in maybe the toughest league in the world.
“But we’ve got a very good team and very good players so, we will try do it.”
Mac Allister is keen to play some part in this evening’s Premier League game at Everton, where he scored twice in a 3-2 win last season.
De Zerbi will make a call on that this morning.
Albion are missing injured Adam Webster and Danny Welbeck but Moises Caicedo returns after a ban.
Everton will be without Amadou Onana, who is suspended after picking up a fifth booking of the season in the 1-1 draw at Manchester City on New Year’s Eve. Anthony Gordon and Yerry Mina will be assessed after missing that game due to illness.
