Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi has indicated that winger Kaoru Mitoma will be devoting his future to the club, writes ANUJITH VIJAYAKUMAR.

De Zerbi spoke to young fans in a “junior press conference” and made an intriguing comment.

He said he had a “secret” to pass on and added: “I spoke with Mitoma and I told him we have to improve in situations.

“I told him we have a lot of time - this year, next year. (Mitoma) told me yes, yes, I understand.”

De Zerbi then shook hands with chief executive Paul Barber, who was sitting next to him.

The 25-year-old Japan international signed a four-year contract when he arrived in 2021.

Albion currently sit seventh in the league with 46 points and Mitoma has been fundamental to the Seagulls’ success.

The winger’s durability, dribbling and acumen have seen him amass seven goals and four assists in 23 appearances.

De Zerbi was speaking during Albion’s open training session at the Amex and his comments were shown on the club’s YouTube channel and social media.
