The Argus: Download of the Week
The Argus: Arkland

Arkland

From: Brighton

Influences: Reuben, The Kooks, The Smiths, Thrice and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Profile: Forming in their A-Level music tech class, four-piece Arkland aim to rip up the rulebook on what indie should sound like. Their melancholic chilled rock angle is designed to be something not heard before; it’s slightly gloomy but very addictive, with mysterious chilling vocals to send shivers up your spine. They are aiming their modern rock focus at a generation sick of the plastic, neon T-shirted, auto-tuned facade of old, following in the footsteps of acts like The Vaccines, The Maccabees and The Gaslight Anthem. Their latest EP is free to download on their Facebook page.
