TWO new performing academies set up by a TV personality launched at the weekend.

The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts opened two branches in Brighton and Eastbourne on Saturday.

The weekend performing arts school caters for four to 18-year-olds with core modules in comedy and drama, musical theatre, and film and television.

It aims to teach skills that are useful for everyday life, not just a career in the performing arts.

There are masterclasses for students interested in more specialist lessons such as stage combat, beat boxing, street dancing and magic.

Actress Pauline Quirke said: “By working with people we believe are outstanding in their field, we aim to bring the widest, most exciting experience to our students in an environment that is both friendly and rewarding.”

The Brighton branch runs at Dorothy Stringer School in Loder Road.

The Eastbourne branch runs at Gildredge House Free School in Compton Place Road.
