A nursery where children “flourish and thrive” has secured its fourth outstanding Ofsted report in a row.

Hopscotch Nursery, in Bavant Road, Brighton has been praised by inspectors who said children there “know they are truly valued”.

Staff were congratulated for their “passionate management” and dedication to create an “ambitious and inspiring curriculum” for the youngsters.

The report, published this month after in inspection in May, marks the nursery’s fourth consecutive outstanding rating, meaning the nursery has now been outstanding for 10 years.

“This is the fourth time in a row that our Preston Park nursery has been awarded an outstanding judgement by Ofsted, which is totally amazing,” said Philip Ford, managing director of Hopscotch Children’s Nurseries.

“We were told the inspector had to call her manager to have it approved because these accolades are given out so rarely these days.

“It’s also the third outstanding our nurseries have been awarded in the last 12 months, which clearly reflects the standards we strive for and shows the consistent quality of childcare on offer at Hopscotch.”

Hopscotch was also praised for its “exemplary” provision for children with special educational needs. The report said staff ensure children have the best level of support that they need.

The report also said that children of all ages become “immersed” in story times that are brought to life by “animated” staff. Babies enjoy choosing books themselves and “wiggle with excitement” when staff read to them.

The nursery in Preston Park is just one of six nurseries run by Hopscotch, with others in Hove, Peacehaven and Seaford.

Hopscotch Children’s Nurseries was founded in 1988 by Barbara Watson, a teacher from Hove.
