The annual Christmas lights switch-on in a bustling shopping lane will take place this week.

Hanningtons Lane is inviting visitors to kick start the festive season as they countdown to the lights switch on at 6pm on Thursday, November 16.

Brighton’s Gay Men’s Chorus will be there singing Christmas songs to get visitors in the mood for celebrations.

There will also be a Christmas craft event at Stanley Road Store, mulled wine at The Flint House, a winter art exhibition at Paxton And Glew, a contemporary art gallery.

Christmas trees will be dotted throughout the lane and shops in the street will be selling gifts for the big day.

A spokeswoman for Hanningtons Lane said: “Late night shopping, twinkly lights and beautiful and unique gifts from independent retailers…what’s not to love?

“Bring your friends, family and your best festive jumper. See you outside The Flint House from 6pm.”

There will also be late-night shopping every Thursday in November and December.
