An outdoor activity area is being refurbished to include a gym zone, chill space and ball area.

Renovations are now under way at Roffey Recreation Ground in Lockwood Close, Horsham, and are likely to last five weeks.

Horsham District Council said the aim is to make it a "really inclusive space for everyone".

It comes after a consultation last year revealed the community was in favour of introducing the new zones to the site.

The ball zone will be a "new concept" that allows for different sports to be played at the same time.

The Argus: There will be new outdoor gym equipment

A council spokesman said: "We are excited to be one of the first councils in the country to install a Numuga, an innovative collection of equipment which offers users the chance to play football, rugby, cricket, basketball, netball and tennis in one compact area.

"Alongside this is the chill zone for young people to relax and come together and an outdoor gym."

While the new development will be bigger than the existing tarmac area, the council has confirmed the current football pitch will not be touched.
