A man was taken to hospital after a late-night attack with a bottle near a notorious city centre park.
The 41-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being assaulted in Lewes Road near The Level on Monday evening.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
Sussex Police said the man was attacked between Franklin Road and The Level between 11pm and midnight on April 29.
His suspected assailant is described as a man who is roughly 5 ft 11 inches tall with blond hair.
He was wearing a white hoodie and a white t-shirt.

The victim of the attack has since been discharged from hospital.
A police spokesman said: "Witnesses and anyone in the area at the time who may have seen something suspicious, or anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage is urged to come forward.
"Information can be reported to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 45 of 30/04."
