Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray reckons two breakaway goals sank his team against Albion.
Andrea Orlandi and David scored to see the Seagulls to a 2-0 win at The Riverside yesterday.
Middlesbrough are well and truly out of the play-off race now but Albion will hope they can conjure up a surprise result or two in the coming week.
The Teessiders entertain Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and go to Bolton on Saturday.
Mowbray said: “Nothing dropped for us really. We haven’t scored a goal in the last three home games. They had three shots and scored two goals.
“We did a lot of work on how we are going to play against them and for long spells it worked fine.
“I thought we restricted them. I thought in the first half we were on top and yet we didn’t give ourselves something to hold on to.
“We got punished in the second half by two breakaway goals.”
