Albion have sent David Lopez straight back into Championship life – and asked Inigo Calderon to operate at left-back.
But there is no Will Buckley in the side which starts at Leeds today.
David plays after just three training sessions and 45 minutes of friendly action following his delayed return to England.
Calderon starts at the ground where he was red-carded in April but a specialist left-back remains on head coach Oscar Garcia’s wish list.
Ashley Barnes and Leo Ulloa both start in attack.
Leeds have reverted to a midfield diamond with Ross McCormack at its attacking tip.
That means big striker Matt Smith, signed this summer from Oldham, must wait for his debut.
Luke Varney and new signing Noel Hunt are likely to start in attack.
Leeds: Kenny; Peltier, Lees, Pearce, Warnock; Green, Murphy, Tonge, McCormack; Varney, Hunt. Subs: Ashdown, Brown, Drury, Smith, Norris, Poleon, White.
Albion: Kuszczak; Bruno, Upson, Greer, Calderon; Bridcutt, Crofts, David Lopez; Orlandi, Ulloa, Barnes. Subs: Ankergren, El-Abd, Maksimenko, Agustien, Buckley, LuaLua, March.
