Albion's development team suffered defeat at the hands of Cardiff for the second time in a week at Lancing tonight.
The Welshmen followed up their 4-3 win after extra-time in the Cup at the same venue last Tuesday with a 1-0 victory which ends the Seagulls' unbeaten League record.
Midfielder Tommy O'Sullivan, scorer of Cardiff's third equaliser in the dying stages of last week's clash, swept in the only goal after 34 minutes from a near-post cross by John Brayford.
Courtney Richards almost equalised in the second half with a free-kick from 25 yards which hit the crossbar via a slight deflection off the defensive wall.
Brennan Dickenson also had a late lob cleared off the line by Cardiff defender Maxi Amondarain.
Albion (4-1-2-3): Walton; Hunt (Deen 46), Rea, Maksimenko, Chicksen; Richards; Harris, March (Davis 46); Asmundsson (Benham 65), Dickenson, Barker. Subs not used: Wray, Barclay, Muitt.
