Tommy Elphick is ready for a battle with the man he sees as Albion’s unsung hero today.
The former Seagulls centre-back, now with Bournemouth, is likely to go head to head with Ashley Barnes.
Elphick is thrilled to see Barnes receiving praise for his work as Albion’s lone central striker.
But he will aim to keep him quiet at the Goldsands Stadium.
Elphick told The Argus: “I’m pleased to see him do so well.
“The season we went up, Muzza (Glenn Murray) took all the plaudits scoring goals but people forget Ash chipped in with 20 goals himself.
“He was also playing out wide and doing a lot of defensive roles for the team.
“I’m pleased for him because he works so hard for everybody and he deserves his success.
“At the moment Brighton have picked up again.
“Barnesy doesn’t seem to be the one scoring but a lot of the goals are coming from his knock downs and his hard work.
“It’s good to see that he is doing well and no one deserves it more than him.”
