Albion are off to a losing start at home under Chris Hughton – and they have also lost Lewis Dunk to suspension.
The top-scoring centre-back was sent off in the 61st minute of today’s rather unfortunate 1-0 home defeat to Brentford.
Dunk was shown a second yellow after tangling with Bees wideman Jota.
The Seagulls arguably did enough to deserve a point in Hughton’s first game in charge at the Amex.
But they were beaten by Andre Gray’s 29th-minute shot which took a big deflection off Joe Bennett.
Albion had their chances, forcing David Button into a handful of decent saves.
But Craig Mackail-Smith should have done better than volley straight at the Bees keeper when a poor defensive header teed him up in the second half.
