Kazenga LuaLua has revealed how words of wisdom from his boss helped him get Albion off to a flyer.

Now he wants the Seagulls' widemen to continue causing chaos in the Championship.

LuaLua fired the only goal on 50 minutes as Albion beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 amid ecstatic scenes at the Amex last night.

He eased past Eric Lichaj, who was on a booking for a foul on the winger, and drilled a low shot across keeper Dorus De Vries.

LuaLua said: “The right-back got a yellow card early so the gaffer said to me ‘Every time you get the ball keep going and hopefully your chance will come’.

“There was only one thing on my mind. I was trying to take him on and then shoot.

“We played very well. We created so many chances and we should have scored more goals.”

Fellow winger Solly March almost added a second but Albion deserved to win.

LuaLua is relishing Albion’s formation under boss Chris Hughton.

He added: “Last season under Sami (Hyypia) we were playing with the wingers behind the striker.

“This season the gaffer has told me and Solly to stay wide and we are pretty much 4-4-2.

“As a winger you get the ball and you are trying to create chances for the striker.

LuaLua’s winner added to the double he scored against De Vries when the Dutchman was last at the Amex with Wolves in 2013.

He added: “We know last season we didn’t start well. We lost the first game against Sheffield Wednesday so it’s good to win.”

Hughton said: "I thought we deserved it and I thought we had a  good balance between defending really well and playing the way we want."
