Albion Women’s boss Tracy Doe has admitted she watched Champions League football and thought: That could be us.
The Seagulls are counting down to a first ever match at the Amex and hope to attract a national record crowd of more than 3,200 when rivals Charlton visit on Sunday, December 6 (3pm).
Doe, the clubs elite women’s and girls’ performance manager, said: “When I took the job on, my interview was about getting Super League and Champion’s League football here.
“I went to the Chelsea v Wolfsburg game (on Wednesday) and it was excellent.
“We walked out at the Amex and I’m already thinking what it would be like to have Albion Women out there playing in the Champions League at the Amex.
“We won’t hide our ambition. We are very ambitious.”
Manager James Marrs added: “I expect the players to relish the occasion. I know they are looking forward to it and I just hope they rise to the challenge.”
