Dale Stephens says Albion’s promotion-chasing players have been boosted by the club’s timely transfer business.

The Seagulls signed James Wilson from Manchester United for the rest of the season and Rajiv Van La Parra from Wolves until January 2 at the end of the loan transfer window.

They have also sealed the signature of prolific Dundalk midfielder Richie Towell, who is ineligible until the new year.

The flurry of additions has coincided with Liam Rosenior (knee) and Kazenga LuaLua (groin) joining Gaetan Bong (thigh) and Sam Baldock (thigh) as long-term casualties.

Stephens, facing his former club Charlton at the Amex today, said: “We’ve lost key players but the lads who have come in during the last couple of weeks have given everyone a boost.

“It gives everyone encouragement, Certainly the players see it as giving everyone a lift. We were probably thin on numbers with the injuries we picked up but the lads coming in shows what the club want to achieve this year. It definitely gives a little pick me-up.”
