Albion suffered a fifth game without a win and drew a third successive blank as they went down at home.
The Seagulls lost 1-0 to well-organised Ipswich Town, for whom Daryl Murphy scored in the 32nd minute.
The goal came shortly after Jamie Murphy had the ball in the net at the other end.
But his effort was disallowed for offside as he followed up after Dale Stephens saw his flick brilliantly turned against the bar by Dean Gerken.
Daryl Murphy fired in unerringly off the inside of the far post after an error by Lewis Dunk.
Kevn Bru and Ryan Fraser both hit the woodwork for the Tractor Boys in the first half as they recorded a fifth successive away win.
But Bobby Zamora went just as close after being introduced in the second period.
Zamora rocked the North Stand crossbar with a right-foot shot after latching on to a cross by Bruno.
